Depression

Depression is a symptom of an emotional condition involving suppressed anger.

Overview

This is the first in a series of discussions we will publish on how emotions affect our health. Here we will discuss depression from a variety of view points. The traditional Chinese medicine and Qi concepts we discuss will probably be the most foreign to most readers. Inside we have a section on TCM and Qi that will further explain the concepts we present.

The combination of these philosophies create some powerful tools for healing. Together we can bring these tools into practical use.

The first step:

LOCATION OF SYMPTOMS
The symptoms of depression very often are revealed at the following four levels:

  1. Physical body
  2. Emotional
  3. Mental
  4. Spiritual

The physical body can develop many symptoms as the result of depression (suppressed anger), such as lack of energy, sleeping disorder, eating disorders, liver conditions, and many more.

The emotions associated with depression usually manifest as pain located in the solar plexus (upper, middle portion of the abdomen), or directly behind that place in the back. Feelings of being out of control, heaviness, sadness, crying, super sensitivity or no sensitivity, fear, and feelings of having no choice are some of the emotional symptoms of depression.

Mental symptoms of depression could appear as lack of concentration, lack of focus, negative interpretations of things, loss of hope, or negative thought patterns.

The spiritual symptoms of depression are being disconnected from Spirit and God.

The second step:

The next step is to determine the causes of the symptoms. Below is a list of four areas that create situtations that cause depression. Take a moment and write down on a piece of paper all the factors that you think are causing your depression. Use the questions below as your guide.

CAUSES OF SYMPTOMS
Where did the causes of depression come from?

  1. Genetics (Sins of the Father)
  2. Karma
  3. Environment (Culture)
  4. Dynamics of the Family System & Programming

Genetics

Were you born with these conditions?
Does this condition (depression) exist in your family's history?

Karma
If we resolve depression in this life, then it is resolved in past lifes.

Environment
Environmental stressors which contribute to causes of depression include your peer group, work, our system of laws, government, your neighborhood, schools, churches, culture, etc. Has any of these things contributed to your anger (depression)?

As an example, I am depressed (angry) because I lost my job. I am depressed because I can't pay my bills, taxes, etc.

The Dynamics of the Family System & Programming
Am I depressed over a loss?
This could mean any loss--death, divorce, friendships (relationships), or things. The system we all have come out of promotes depression. Depression is anger.

Did you have an angry parent(s)?
As a child, did you receive your parents anger? If so, the child receives this anger and stores it within its body. If we have received any anger as a child, it is stored within us. It usually stays within us until something changes.

Where does the anger go?

Promoting your own well-being involves identification of the causes of a given condition and the awareness of symptoms which may result. After we identify the symptoms and have evaluated the causes we may then go to our modality of healing which will include treatment and technique for the four levels of healing: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Concern with the whole person is essential in our Healing Modality for Depression.
