Qi

Qi is referred to as life force, or vital energy, and can be equated to electric energy. It is imperative for the existence of life. It is circulated through the body by way of specific pathways called meridians. The entire body relies on Qi for function. Health is dependent on the this free flowing energy throughout the body. Qi is the refined and nutritious substances flowing in the body, invisible but existent, such as the essential substance from water and the inhaled clear Qi and exhaled waste Qi.

Qi is depleted through the stressors of daily living. Qi is obtained from air and food. Qi becomes deficient through bad eating and drinking habits, lifestyle, attitude, irregular breathing. If Qi is not sufficiently maintained disease will result. Qi deficiency can be precipitated by environmental stressors, toxic emotions, prolonged exposure to extreme climate, and lifestyle.

Nutrition is a functional aspect of health. The connection between diet and health is considered vital. Certain foods have specific Qi functions, they heat or cool, or stimulate or sedate. Disease is the result of not living in accord with natural laws of the universe, including that which is obtained through diet either in excess or not enough of. When the natural processes of the body and Qi is balanced, good health can be maintained.
